The Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris is a one-year postgraduate training course for budding European film producers and distributors at the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and the La fémis film school in Paris. Key hallmarks of the programme include the indepth know-how of the experienced lecturers, the intercultural atmosphere of the course with its international participants and
the alumni network spanning Europe.
The Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris offers
• comprehensive knowledge of the film business in Europe geared
to real-world issues, focusing on script and project development,
financing, production, distribution, sales and marketing
• personal contacts to the European film industry
• experience of intercultural interactions with the other course participants
and a chance to fine-tune foreign language skills, with an
emphasis on film-world terminology
• Atelier Network, the programme’s active Europe-wide alumni network
The Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris was launched by Prof. Dr. Peter Sehr and Prof. Jan Schütte in 2001, initially as a pilot project. The programme has been funded by the European Commission under the aegis of the MEDIA programme since 2002 and has been a regular fixture in the courses offered by the Filmakademie Baden-Württemberg and the La fémis film school in Paris since then.
Both institutions rank among the top film schools in France and Germany and in Europe. In 2007 a further important cooperation
partner, the National Film and Television School in Beaconsfield near London, joined the programme.
On the French side, Programme Director Christine Ghazarian of La fémis runs the Atelier. Since October 2013 the German Programme Directors are the producers Gerhard Meixner and Roman Paul (Razor Film).
