BassLab is a manufacturer of monocoque, one-pieced musical instruments made from "tuneable" composite in Germany.
BassLab instruments are designed and made in Germany by Heiko Hoepfinger, a physicist with an interest in the acoustic uses of composite materials. Heiko developed his special "tunable composite" material more than a decade and a half ago to give him a flexible material with which to craft musical instruments. He can adjust the formulation and distribution of the composite material throughout an instrument to achieve the desired acoustic effect.
Instruments made with Heiko's composite material respond better than wood, which - contrary to popular belief - often impedes the transmission of sound waves through an instrument body. So, BassLab composite instruments have a clarity and quickness of attack, along with a well-balanced frequency spectrum, from low to high. When these instruments are amplified, they provide more original tone to work with, instead of requiring you to boost what isn't there.
BassLab instruments are sold in the Western Hemisphere by Greg Holmes of GH Services, at the sites below.
