Bonn International School (BIS) offers an excellent education for children aged 3–19 in a nurturing, multicultural community. We are an English-speaking school that delivers the comprehensive IB Programmes.

Our school offers your child an excellent education in a nurturing, multi-cultural community. On the banks of the Rhine River, our school is centrally located in the leafy heart of Europe.

We are an English-speaking International Baccalaureate school delivering the three comprehensive programmes of this internationally-renown organization. Our students span the ages of three years to 19, all of whom we inspire to develop into well-rounded global citizens.

Your child will enjoy small class sizes, an experienced and hand-selected international teaching staff, a student body comprised of 75 nationalities, and a broad and stimulating curricula that both empowers students to discover their passions and strengths, and teaches them not just what to learn, but how to learn. Our students and graduates show maturity beyond their years and are exceptional role models.

A wide range of extracurricular activities are available to students at all grade levels and include technology, theatre, music, sport and languages. Specialist school counselors are available to students through times of transition, for education on life matters and simply to talk to. Furthermore, a carefully considered Learning Support program offers students additional assistance when necessary.

We value the contributions of our wider BIS family and firmly believe in the partnership of students, faculty and parents. Meine Enkeltochter 6 besucht die Preschool. Was sie dort erlebt und mitteilt, ist begeisternd: kreativer, motivierender Unterricht, animierende Experimente, den Kindern wird etwas zugetraut - und sie trauen sich, ästhetische Materialien und wunderbarer Bezug zu den individuellen kleinen Persönlichkeiten. Den Pädagog*innen meinen besonderen Dank für Ihr Können, ihre Professionalität, ihre Einfühlsamkeit und ihre konstruktiven Feedbacks. Ich finde: es ist einfach eine außerordentlich gute "Schule fürs Leben". All my three children have been at BIS for more than 5 years now.  From enquiry-based learning in the primary years to the career guidance and rigorous teaching of the IB Diploma Programme, this school continues to provide a wonderful all-round education for my kids that I have no doubt will prepare them well for the future.  I couldn't be happier with the way the staff and school leadership have responded to the difficulties of teaching under Covid regulations, and am incredibly grateful that my older children in particular have been able to continue their education in such a caring and supportive atmosphere. My kids have been at BIS for the past three years and I cant recommend it enough! My children feel happy and challenged and look forward to school. It has a child centric approach and a very future oriented view of learning. The school community is very active and a great support system, especially important when you move to a new city. Our two primary aged children have been attending BIS for two years. From the very first day we all found the very international school community incredibly warm and welcoming. The Welcome Family program was a huge help in our early days and weeks, and since then the children have blossomed in small classes with attentive and experienced teachers. The environment really lets the kids follow their interests and passions, as well as giving them a great grounding in the basics of math, language, music, sport and arts. The short version is BIS is a great school.  My two children have been very happy at the primary school for the last 3 years and as parents we find the IB syllabus very progressive, the staff helpful and the facilities excellent. The rather longer version goes like this.  For anyone thinking of moving to Bonn you are fortunate to have a choice to two international schools to choose from, BIS and IBIS.  Being married to a teacher, education was a key consideration so we visited both schools, before moving from the UK to Bonn.  Both are full of happy smiling kids, both have hardworking dedicated teachers and both are well funded with good facilities.  That said, they are so different it is difficult to compare.  IBIS looks and feels like a British primary school, whereas BIS looks and feels more like an international university campus. Both BIS and IBIS are good schools and the decision on which is best for your child is very personal.  We chose BIS because of the IB syllabus, it's internationally recognised, includes a lot on personal development, and covers topics relevant for modern life, plus the international atmosphere very evident when you walk round the place. 3 years in and my kids now 8 and 11 have flourished.  BIS staff have been supportive and helpful throughout and as parents we are staggered at the number of creative, sporting and educational opportunities on offer.  There is also a very strong, diverse community associated with the school, which is welcoming and makes it easy to integrate. I would recommend BIS to anyone. We have been attending Bonn International School for the past 3 years. Due to my husbands job, it brought us to the Cologne/Bonn area.  When visiting schools, we stepped into BIS and knew immediately it was a great school and community.  Teachers are well qualified and seek to bring out the best in the children.  My children are in the Primary School and have transitioned well into the IB program coming from USA schools.  They wouldn't receive this kind of educational experience back in the USA. My two boys have been at BIS for 8 years and it's been a fantastic school for them and a wonderful community for our family.  They have such an amazing variety of incredible teachers and specialists who have really made sure they are progressing and being challenged.  We love the location and facilities, there's a huge selection of after-school clubs and activities for them.  BIS has been a huge determining factor in our decision to remain in Bonn.
