Die Volocopter GmbH ist weltweit führend bei der Entwicklung von senkrecht-startenden, voll-elektrischen Multikoptern für den Personentransport und als Schwerlastdrohnen. Die technische Plattform ist äußert flexibel und lässt den pilotierten, ferngesteuerten und voll-autonomen Flugbetrieb zu. Darüber hinaus sorgt das einzigartige Konzept aufgrund seiner hohen Redundanz aller kritischen Komponenten für extreme Sicherheit. Erklärtes Ziel des Unternehmens ist jedem Menschen den Traum vom Fliegen zu ermöglichen und modernen Städten zu helfen, ihre wachsenden Mobilitätsprobleme zu lösen. Bereits 2011 schrieb das Unternehmen Luftfahrtgeschichte mit dem bemannten Flug des weltweit ersten, rein elektrischen Multicopter. Seitdem setzte das junge Unternehmen weitere Meilensteine: 2016 erhielt Volocopter die vorläufige Verkehrszulassung durch die deutsche Luftfahrtbehörde für einen 2-Sitzer Volocopter und 2017 traf das Luftfahrt-Startup eine Vereinbarung mit RTA Dubai über die weltweite Premiere eines autonom fliegenden Lufttaxis. Im nächsten Jahr soll der erste Volocopter mit Zulassung auf den Markt gebracht werden. Die Gründer Stephan Wolf und Alexander Zosel haben mittlerweile ein schlagkräftiges Team von erfahrenen Managern wie CEO Florian Reuter (vormals Siemens) und CTO Jan-Hendrik Boelens (vormals Airbus Helicopters) um sich versammelt. Damit wurden die Weichen für das weitere Wachstum des Unternehmens gestellt. Zu den namhaften Gesellschaftern zählen Weltkonzerne wie Daimler und Intel.

As early as 2011 the company earned its entry into the history of aviation through the manned flight of the world’s first purely electrical multicopter. Since then the young enterprise has set new milestones: In 2016 Volocopter was granted provisional licensing for a two seater Volocopter by the German aviation authority and in 2017 the aviation start-up entered into an agreement with RTA Dubai over the global premiere of an autonomously flying air taxi. The first licensed Volocopter should be on the market next year.
