In 2010, AVA became the first company in the world to operate a HTC plant on an industrial scale. AVA has been developing and testing its advanced HTC technology in a modular preindustrial HTC plant located in Relzow, Germany. The company has run the plant for 1,000 hours continuously to validate its technical and engineer feasibility, additional to it, it has tested 100 different biomass as inputs. The HTC plant in Relzow has demonstrated that the technology works in relevant environments and now is entering into commercial exploitation for other wet biomass waste streams, such as agricultural and forestry residues. AVA has also carried out tests with sewage sludge which have shown satisfactory results.
