Established in 1949 Liebherr Group today is a leading manufacturer of construction and mining equipment, but also supplies innovative user-oriented products and services in many other fields, e.g. for the maritime, cargo and material handling industry. Liebherr employs about 41,000 people in over 135 companies worldwide. The Group's holding company is Liebherr-International AG in Bulle, Switzerland, which is entirely owned by members of the Liebherr family.

For the maritime industry Liebherr supplies a wide range of cranes and port equipment. The extensive product programme in this area comprises floating transfer solutions, ship and offshore cranes, mobile harbour cranes, ship-to-shore container cranes, fixed and rail mounted cargo cranes, rail-mounted stacking cranes, rubber tyre gantry cranes, straddle carriers, dockyard cranes, reachstackers, crawler cranes, excavators, material handlers, wheel loaders, crawler tractors, crawler loaders and telescopic handlers.

To satisfy the quality demands with which its products are expected to comply, Liebherr has always attached great importance to in-house core competences. Major components and assemblies are developed and manufactured by companies within the Liebherr Group, for example the complete driveline and control technology for material handling machines.
