Geschichte

NUCLEUS – New Understanding of Communication, Learning and Engagement in Universities and Scientific Institutions – is an international, four-year project that rethinks the ways universities and research institutions interact with policymakers, the media, economy, public engagement, and civil society.

Responsible Research and Innovation, or RRI, is a process in which all societal actors (researchers, citizens, policymakers, business, third sector organisations, etc.) work together during the whole research and innovation process in order to align research and innovation outcomes with the values, needs and expectations of society.

The goal of NUCLEUS is to understand how the leaders of universities and research institutions can develop strong cultures of RRI in their organisations. The project will build an understanding of the challenges and expectations these leaders face, and how this is influenced by other stakeholders in society. Based on this understanding, NUCLEUS will develop and apply new strategies to integrate RRI into academic institutions.
