It all officially started for Rico Bernasconi at the age of 15 as a resident DJ back in 1986. Very early on, Rico felt quite a connection with what the party on the dancefloor was really all about and what will happen in the future towards all the fresh upcoming new musical trends.

Rico was always focused & determined to reach his goals so by the end of the 1990’s; he was successfully hired as a DJ promoter with a legendary record company from the Ruhr area. It was on this label that the first big dance hits and acts were born.

Under the name Rico Bass, he was responsible for projects like Sequential One (working on the dance project to ATB, Woody van Eyden and Spacekid), Red 5 and also 666 the club DJ, which then put out on 12inch Vinyl, with a resounding success on the turntables.

Shortly after he started producing his own dance projects, when in 2002/03 he released his first big European hit under the pseudonym of Master Blaster at the time, as a trio; together with Mike de Ville and Sascha van Holt.

They had cover hits such as Hypnotic Tango, How Old R U, as well as the debut album We Love Italo Disco (then as a Sony Dance Vision release) shot to the top-10 of the Media Control Charts in Germany.

Then in the beginning of 2005, he decided to emphasize his image as a trendsetter and founded a new trio under the name Vinylshakerz with two new partners, Tommy Detert, and Mike Grießheimer. This was followed by 2 big cover hits One Night in Bangkok, as well as Club Tropicana on Kontor Records, and again throughout Europe.

Finally tired of cover versions, as well as trio projects, in 2008 Rico introduced its own label under StarsHit Recordings in cooperation with Kontor Records (till 2011) and then with Kontor New Media.

There, in addition to his productions, artists were discovered and incorporated with the DJs from Mars from Turin, who have been part of the DJ set in and around Tiesto in front of his audiences for some time.

In addition to a number of Rico Bernasconi remixes for many of the big players in the global scene, in 2011 he laid the first foundation stone with collaboration’s with the King of Dancehall, Beenie Man and the then followed world star icon AKON.

In 2014, he met Sean Paul by chance and they got along very well right from the start. This resulted in 2015 the creation of a big summer hit entitled Ebony Eyes which was released on his new label Hooky Recordings under licence to Kontor, while together with his close colleagues Toni Tuklan and Ollie Stan (A-Class),. A full 9-weeks topping the charts as well as top iTunes overall positions, following more than 11 million Spotify streams and #1 peak positions on multiple major airplay stations occurred as a result.

Free of any prejudice or musical compulsion, Rico continued successfully producing in 2016 with the german pop icon Marianne Rosenberg who collaborated together as a team with the Song Sie tanzt / She´s dancing. The two have since been very close friends, in their musical professions as well as in their own private lives. This was then followed by remixes in the German sector as Bedingungslos for Sarah Connor and even the Shootingstar Ben Zucker – “Na Und ?” ! Last but not least, was the single by Helene Fischer – “Herzbeben.

Now just in time for the summer of 2018, Rico Bernasconi, together with Sean Paul and D. Howell, will once again bring forth an international mega-hit to Universal Music and their partner Island Records (UK) with Time 2 Party.

Together with the major talent of Sunny D and his buddy Ric E from the duo Stereoact, the German section is of course not limited. With the project RICO & RICO feat Sunny D – Liebeslieder.
The summer of 2018 is going to be very hot and only sizzling with these fresh new hits!
