How to lose a 20 years customer for 95 cents over a bill of 63€. Yesterday I went to Riedel-Schatz, Kronenstraße 13 in Ettlingen, that HAS BEEN one of my favourite shops in the town in the last 20 years. Among other things, I'd would have liked to buy a nice little tray for 10€, price regurarly written on the label sticked on it and on about 9 or 10 other identical trays on sale. Al the moment of the bill, the shopping assistent told me that the price of the tray wasn't right and wrote directly 10.95€ on the receipt, showing me OTHER trays in the shop marked with this new price. I made her note that, as a matter of fact and as a customer, I should pay exactly the price indicated on the wares in the shop. The girl refused to please me, insisting that 10.95€ was the price and I could only choose to take the object or leave it there. I tried to explain that I wasn't responsible of any mistake by the staff and that in every shop I've ever been in the world the price a customer has to pay is the one written on the things you want to buy. It isn't a matter of money, but of fairness and accuracy. The situation became even more painful when a man, presumably the shop owner, popped up from somewhere to partecipate in the discussion. Not a word of excuses, not a sorry word. With a frozen and forced kindness I've been coldly told that to buy or not to buy was just a choice of mine, but the price would anyway have been the one already written in the receipt. Obviously, I left the tray in the shop and I has been strongly tempted to leave there everything else I wanted to buy. I felt the whole situation as one of the most disgusting I've ever seen in a shop. Now, honestly, I wonder how a shop manager, if I can call him this way, should treat his customers in this awful way. Eventually, I announced that I wouldn't ever come back in Riedel-Schatz shop any more in my life and, again, I was told with insensibility that this would have been a choice of mine. A repetitive man. I should understand that maybe one only person doesn't make the difference for the owner and he doesn't consider it. Possibly he dreams of crowds beggering at his door for a purchase. Strangely, I haven't ever seen more than two people at once in the shop, including me. By the way, yesterday the shop was sadly and badly half closed in the jewellery zone. Best wishes. Anna Divo
