Samurai Bar Tape is made from the tradional Japanese Sanada Himo fabric. Samurais use this fabric since centurys to cover the grips of their swords.
The SANADA HIMO fabric was mentioned in history books the first time during the Edo Period, better known as the Tokugawa Period wich lasted from 1603 untill 1868.
Members of the Sanada family, a famous japanese Ninja and Samurai family developed this unique weaving technique and gave the fabric it`s name.
The Sanada family used the tape to wrap the handles of their swords, providing more grip and better control of the Katana in the heat of the action.
Many others followed their example and soon the Sanada Himo tape was used by most Samurais throughout the country.
The tape is made of 100% cotton, it is extremly strong, durable and weather resistant.
