Who we are and what we do – Small Town Musikverein
Saturday nights, it´s probably the same story everywhere: sharing a deep love for pure mu-sic, a bunch of pals hang out at their buddy´s place, fill their bellies with local beers and whisky from overseas, and take turns playing their favorite songs to one another. On a night like this in 2014, DerMusikverein was born, and ever since its twelve founding fathers sol-emnly promised to never abandon their beloved pastime and meet at a more regular basis, dozens of concerts have been visited as well as hundreds of tasty beers and meaningful songs have been indulged in – precious moments which won´t ever be forgotten.
Things got more intense, though, when DerMusikverein was legally recognized a registered society in early 2015, now officially taking up the cause of enriching the cultural life in Haltern am See, a small town with a population of 38,000, where most of us have grown up. It didn´t take long before a one-day festival was agreed upon as a perfect means to live up to DerMusikverein´s own commitments, that is to offer a stage to various artists and have the local youth, sick of trekking halfway across the country to see their idols, enjoy them right in their backyard.
Consequently, we are pleased to announce SmallTownHeartFestival takes over Doebber Carpentry workshop (see map) in Haltern on August 15th 2015. The lineup we´ve put together so far certainly is a true representation of what SmallTownHeart is all about: whether taking a bittersweet trip down melancholy line with Gregor McEwan (singer-songwriter/Berlin), watching the maniacs in Coloured Moth (experimental noise post-hardcore/Berlin) create new worlds, getting intimate with Supercomfortable´s soundtrack for unique moments (ambient post-funk/Berlin), shaking your hips to The Tips` laid-back reggae-soul sound (Neuss, Germany), or jumping for joy at ATLAS LOSING GRIP`s energetic punk rock show (Malmö/Sweden) – highly diverse, SmallTownHeart caters to all musical tastes. Culinarily, rock fans can treat themselves to some find food by DoppeltSoLecker-Catering. Entering the after-show dance floor, finally, music spotters can´t help but shake a leg to DJBeansch&DJSchnakesiro frenzy salamibeats… all wrapped up into one amazing day at the workshop.
