Sonnenwagen Aachen is a team of students from Aachen, Germany, with the goal of developing a solar car to participate in the World Solar Challenge.

Geschichte

The Sonnenwagen team from Aachen is enthusiastic about the development of green mobility concepts for the ecological future. The feasibility of the change from fossil fuels to renewable energies is to be demonstrated by our solar car. Since the founding of the association in November 2015, we have been working on the development of a solar-powered electric vehicle. This presents our team members with very different challenges than the development of a conventional vehicle.

Above all, the vehicle weight as well as a possible aerodynamic design are the main focus. For this reason lightweight constructions and fiber composite materials are used - every gram counts. The self-designed vehicle chassis should minimize the wind resistance and ensure higher speeds. The Aachen HUAWEI Sonnenwagen is powered by highly efficient solar cells and is thus a perfect example of propulsion by renewable energies. In collaboration with our partners from industry and science, we develop an efficient, reliable and safe vehicle concept.

We are convinced that sustainable mobility concepts and solar technology are crucial to our future. As an association of enthusiastic students we want to contribute together. This is why we are developing a solar car to participate in an emissions-free race across Australia, the World Solar Challenge.

The fascination for new technologies and the challenges of the world's toughest solar car drivers drive us forward. In the development of our solar vehicle, we cooperate with renowned institutes and companies. We are always looking for further supporters who want to share our enthusiasm and accompany us on our way.
