Ashtanga-Yoga-Association is the professional organization for state recognized schools which train competent yoga teachers in a three-year-training.

Geschichte

AYA was founded in 2003 to develop standards in teaching and training of Ashtangayoga and to establish the Ashtangayoga teacher as an officially approved job profile.

Increasing reports of injuries during unqualified insructions in the teaching scene led to the need of our high standards and quality criteria of our AYA certification.

The teaching of beginners was rarely structured and there was no professional curriculum.

There also was little knowledge in philosophy, breathing and anatomy of bodymovement and there were no pedagogical structures in transfering quality-knowledge.

Due to all these lacks AYA was founded and met a high response.

Many people expect progress of their teaching capabilities through visiting workshops or shortterm teachertrainings instead of professionally immersing themselves into the traditional teachings of alignment and adjustments of the body.

Aya developed a 3 year teacher training for their members which is based on joy and love of Ashtangayoga and its students, as well as on a state approved curriculum and exam.

AYA also offers a pool of schools and teachers that fulfill the AYA standards in teaching.

Our future prospect is that more and more people and schools want to deepen and prosper in their personal practise and their teaching dedicated to wellbeing and health through Ashtangayoga.
