German Public Highschool
Gymnasium Puchheim is a scientific-technological and linguistic public Bavarian Gymnasium located in Puchheim, a suburb of the city of Munich. Currently about 1100 pupils attend this institution.
On August 1, 1974, the Gymnasium Puchheim was founded as the fifth Gymnasium in the administrative district of Fürstenfeldbruck. Since then it has aimed at assisting its students to attain a better understanding of languages and sciences, to enhance their commitment in distinct fields of activity and to provide a community in which students can excel in and outside of the classroom.
For reaching this goal, great emphasis is placed on special programs: There are several exchange programs with schools around the world, including the well-known Westminster School in London. Furthermore, bilingual teaching was introduced, which means pupils are able to attend geography and history lessons in English. The school participates in many scientific contests, dealing with, for example regenerative sources of energy, and it maintains many contacts in the fields of science and economy, which enables every student to do an internship in a local business, to participate in geological excursions or to take part in the business@school contest. Furthermore, students are able to commit themselves to several music, sport or theater activities.
