Intellectual Property & Biotechnology - Linking Law, Business and Science

Hosted by the faculties of Law, Economics and Business, Agricultural Sciences and Medicine of the Justus Liebig University Giessen

Its first edition in 2005, the International Summer University has gained increasing global recognition. We are proud to host students from all over the world over again every summer. Our courses, all of them taught in English, are designed to challenge and inspire participants in highly popular fields of intellectual property and biotechnology.

The interdisciplinray program is designed for undergraduates, graduates as well as postgraduates and young professionals, who want to learn about Europe's way of dealing with the challenges of a new and developing industry. On top, you will get a first-hand account on the German language as well as German and European culture.

The program combines high-quality teaching with a wide range of cultural and social activities. All seminars are taught by internationally renowned academics and practitioners. In addition to the academic courses, two on-site visits at international biotechnology companies and two four-day field trips to Berlin and Hamburg will add a more hands-on elements to the content learned in class. Furthermore, students will attend German language courses on different levels.

Recreational excursions during the weekends will show students some of the most beautiful places in Germany. Above all, studying abroad will help participants broaden their horizons by bringing them closer to foreign cultures, interact and share their diverse experiences and – most important – is fun!
