Geschichte

Isolitudine is a romantic Italian neologism conceived to describe the imagination and the feelings of those who were born and grew up on an island. Isolitudine refers to being trapped and overwhelmed by the sea, the impression of both physical and geographical isolation from the rest of the world, as well as a long-lasting tie with the place where one belongs. In fact, an island reflects so deeply the soul of its inhabitants that eventually it occupies them entirely. Finally, Isolitudine is the emotional tension that has driven many to leave Sardinia to cross its borders to challenge themselves.
The documentary tells the story of five Sardinian musicians who have left the island at different times. Diverse in background and style, they took a challenge common to all: picking Berlin as the new and dynamic environment to establish themselves as artists. Accordingly, the title “isoli_tuned” results from the combination of the word Isolitudine with “tuned”, which means harmonised. In fact, all of them are committed to build harmonic connections with the new homeland, often with a new artistic identity, with new professional collaborations and a new public.
The aim of this project is to describe the various sound landscapes characterizing the five protagonists by exploring not only the music and the sound they produce, but also the sounds colouring their daily life.
The documentary writes scores that become maps of the city. A metropolis, which is destined to always become but never to be.


Isolitudine è un neologismo romantico, un termine ideato con l'intento di raccontare la condizione di chi nasce e cresce su un'isola. L'isolitudine è essere circondati dal mare a perdita d'occhio, è una percezione di isolamento fisico e geografico data dalla distanza dai continenti circostanti e un forte sentimento di appartenenza che vuole preservare le proprie radici, perché un'isola si imprime tanto profondamente nell'identità di chi l'ha abitata da abitarvi dentro a sua volta. L'isolitudine è, però, anche la tensione che ha spinto tanti a lasciare la Sardegna per superarne i limiti fisici e (ri)mettere in discussione i propri.
Il documentario racconta le storie di cinque musicisti sardi partiti dall'Isola in tempi diversi. Nonostante la diversità di stili, quello che hanno in comune è l'essersi rapportati come artisti a una città stimolante, competitiva ed emancipata come Berlino. Da qui nasce ISOLI_TUNED: "isoli" come radice di isolitudine e "tuned" come accordati, sintonizzati e intonati. Tutti e cinque i protagonisti cercano di trovare un accordo con un posto nuovo: un accordo con se stessi a livello di identità ma anche una sinergia coi membri della loro band e col loro pubblico.
L'intento del documentario è quello di descrivere i diversi paesaggi sonori che accompagnano la vita dei musicisti, non solo attraverso il genere musicale che li rappresenta ma anche attraverso i suoni della loro vita quotidiana. Il documentario crea nuovi immaginari ritmici che si accordano coi suoni della città, seguendo uno spartito che è anche la mappa di una metropoli destinata a divenire ma mai ad essere.
