Geschichte

The Sprachlehrinstitut/Language Teaching Centre (SLI) is in charge of organising and conceptualising the entire programme of language courses for students from all faculties on behalf of the Faculties of Philology and Philosophy.
Against the backdrop of shrinking distances in Europe and ongoing globalisation, a sound knowledge of foreign languages is now undeniably an essential requirement for university education and working life.
In order to meet these new challenges, our course programme includes both European and non-European languages.

Our digitalized language laboratory offers multimedia lessons and is open for all students and course participants for self-studies.

The SLI offers institutions and partners of the University of Freiburg conceptual support and tailor-made courses. Additionally, we organise conferences, congresses and workshops about language politics and language teaching.
